Minneapolis Ordinance Change

A recent amendment has been made to the Minneapolis ordinance regarding nuisance conditions, which includes things like tall grass and weeds, vegetation overhanging the public sidewalk or alley, or rubbish and debris on private property. The new amendment allows the City of Minneapolis to correct these conditions without notice. Since February 1, 2006, property owners who have received two or more notices to correct a nuisance condition within the prior twelve-month period may no longer receive notification of future violations. The City may correct the nuisance condition and assess the costs without sending further notice. All costs of such removal or correction will be added as a special tax assessment against the property. The initial notice will remain in effect for twelve months from the date it is sent.
